SNSD Tops Weekly Oricon Charts + Breaking the K-POP records!

Yes you read right! Our 9 Angels have done it again, this time in Japan!
SNSD just released their new full length Japanese album, and on it's release date (01.06.2011), it sold a total of 70,000 copies, proving that the girls have a massive popularity in Japan. Not only that they have sold over 232,000 copies in just 5 days, and is already Nr. 1 on the Oricon Weekly Charts!

This is the first weekly number one for a Girls' Generation single or album since their Japanese debut single "Genie" last September. Also, marking a historical first for Korean girl groups, Girls' Generation is the second foreign female group to have a debut album rank number one in its first week of sales after Russia's female duo t.A.T.u. did it 8 years and 3 months ago.

The girls, who are currently in the midst of their first solo concert tour through Japan, commented "We are thankful towards the fans that our album became number 1 on Oricon. Of course the ranking makes us happy, but especially the fact that lots of people listened to our album does also. We hope sincerely from the bottom of our hearts that this album can give the people of Japan even a little bit of courage and the light of hope."
